The Garden and Things that go BUMP in the Night

I Come To The Garden Alone -Hymn
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.Refrain
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known. He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.Refrain
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.Refrain
I love this old hymn. For the first time ever, I am experiencing these words.
For 23 years I was a banker. I wore a suite to work everyday for much of my adult life. Three years ago I quite the Corporate world to be a stay-at-home mom and a wife. God knows what he is doing.
Since I have been at home I fell in love with gardening. This week for the first time in my life, I planted a garden. A vegetable garden and a flower garden. This gift is from the Lord and my husband. It is perhaps the most precious gift I have ever received.

My heart is THANKFUL!
Also, we had an intruder in our home last week at 4:30 a.m.
What would God have us do when we are afraid? Find out today at Laced With Grace where I share this true story, Things That go BUMP in the Night.
Be Blessed, Lynn

What beautful words in that old hymn,I read it one word after one word with my heart, just as walking with the Lord in the garden at night. At first I mistook "HYMN" as "LYMN",your name, I regared it is the poem you wrote. :)
Congratulations to your new garden, please remember to take photos when the flowers blossom, the vegetable grows.

Lynn,
Great TT post and I loved the story of the cat that came through the dog doors to find your daughter in the early hours of the morning.
My wish for you is that one day you have grandchildren who phone and say, "Hi Grandma. Whatcha doing." It is the sweetest music on earth.
Blessings,
Mary

There is something really neat about vegetables growing in the garden. It's calming, enjoyable, and great evidence for creationism - I think. I still have about 1 1/2 months before our ground will dry out enough to plant a garden.

I love that old hymn!! I also love to play in the dirt, and watch things grow...although I haven't had the time to work in my yard, I look forward to warm, sunny days of doing just that! Thanks for brightening my day!

Your garden is beautiful! The Lord will talk to you a lot while down on your knees pulling out the weeds....He did me.
I love that old hymn and it used to be one of my "riding the lawn mower" songs...because I could sing to the top of my lungs ---and wouldn't disturb anyone! What fun!
About that intruder...I will have to check that out! I can "whup up on someone if I need to!"

What fun to know you are going to grow a garden. That is one of my favorite things to do. Plant, water, and wait. Watching for new life and new blooms.
Enjoy!

Oh, how exciting to share that garden with your two best men! :) This will be my fourth year to garden and though I'm not the best gardener, I love to watch it grow.

I love Gardens although I have never successfully planted one...yet. Even more though, I love to walk in that garden with Him. That is one of my favorite hymns. Great list, thanks so much for sharing and I hope we see the pics once that garden begins to grow.
Be blessed,
Stacy

Hey Lynn!
So glad you're enjoying your garden. Maybe you can share some tips because this CA soil has me stumped. LOL! Loved the story at Laced with Grace too. What a cute kitty and so cool about your daughter. As a mom I love those moments that make us feel we're doing something right. :-)
Hugs!

That was one of my great grandmother's favorite hymns. It has a special place in my heart.
When you're done with your garden, how 'bout coming over to my place and helping me with mine! ;)
Oh, and by the way, thanks for asking about my family in Kenya. They are fine. Things have calmed down there, but there are food shortages. By late summer/early fall there will be such severe shortages they are saying there will be a famine. We need to continue to pray for all the displaced people who still have no homes (nearly 300,000).
Have a blessed day!
